Baseball's Ryan Shay Has Seven-RBI Game In Missouri Summer League Play

Shay Was 5-for-5 With Seven RBI Leading The Nevada Griffons To 16-5 Win On Sunday


BG's Ryan Shay, a First Team All-MAC eelection this past season, had a game-high seven RBi for the Nevada Griffons of the Jayhawk Baseball League.

OZARK, Mo. - Bowling Green State University junior shortstop Ryan Shay showed why he was a First Team All-Mid American Conference and a First Team NCAA Mideast Region selection on Sunday, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate, collecting a game-high seven RBI as his summer league team, the Nevada Griffons, took down the Ozark Generals by a 16-5 score in Jayhawk League play. The Garden City, Mich. native tallied five singles and a walk, while he accounted for one run scored, as the Griffons picked up their third-straight victory.

On the summer, Shay has hit .276 in 21 games played. He has 21 hits, two doubles, one homer and 18 RBI. With runners in scoring position, the right-hander has hit .297, while he has been a .310 hitter with two outs on the scoreboard, driving in seven runs.

The Griffons are currently 17-10 on the season and 11-9 in Jayhawk play.


OTHER NOTABLE FALCONS

Frank Berry - is 2-2 with a 1.93 ERA and eight strikeouts in 14 innings pitched in four appearances for the 9-8 Lima Locos of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.

Dusty Hawk - is 2-0 with an impressive 0.96 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 18 amd two-third innings pitched for the 12-11 Monroe Channelcats of the Tar Heel Summer League. Opposing hitters are hitting just .169 against the righty.

Kevin Leady - is 1-1 with a 0.77 ERA in 11 and two-third innings pitched and has six strikeouts in two games for the 7-8 Lake Erie Monarchs of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.

Dan Parsons - is 1-0 with a 1.68 ERA in eight and a third innings with seven strikeouts in two games pitched also for the 13-3 Ohio Monarchs.

 

 

Dennis Vaughn - hitting .347 (second on the team) with 26 hits, eight doubles, two homers and 26 RBI for the 19-4 Springfield Sliders of the Central Illinois Collegiate League.

Charles Wooten - is 1-0 with one save and has a 1.40 ERA in 10 innings pitched with eight strikeouts in three games for the 13-3 Ohio Monarchs of the Tri-State Collegiate League.
