RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Frank Elegar scored 23 points and Drexel beat Northeastern 64-50 Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.
The Dragons (23-7) won for seventh time in their last eight games. Seeded fourth, they will play top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth in the semifinals on Sunday.
Northeastern (13-19), which had its four-game winning streak snapped, trailed 35-18 at halftime after Drexel scored five points in the last 4 seconds of the half.
The Huskies, who were 3-for-21 on 3-pointers, got no closer than 13 thereafter.
Elegar scored 12 points in the first 11:38 as the Dragons took an 18-7 lead. He also grabbed six rebounds. Dominick Mejia added 11 points and Bashir Mason and Randy Oveneke 10 each for Drexel, which lost 75-68 at home to VCU on Jan. 27 in their only meeting.
Bennet Davis led the Huskies with 16 points. Bobby Kelly had 13 and Manny Adako 11.
