Freshman Marita Engzelius placed 21st at the Tar Heel Invitational

Chapel Hill, NC - The Tulsa women's golf team finished in 16th at the Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday. The Golden Hurricane turned in its best performance of the 54-hole tournament in the final round with a score of 306 to finish with a 936 total.

Wake Forest captured the team title with a 12-over par 876, while three of their golfers finished among the top-5. North Carolina (888), Vanderbilt (892), Virginia (893) and Auburn (901) filled out the top-5 spots.

Tulsa freshman Marita Engzelius led the Hurricane for the second straight tournament as she turned in a 21st place performance after carding a final round 71 for a nine-over par 225 score. Fellow freshman Kamryn Ruffin shot a third round score of 79 for a three-round total of 231 for 43rd place.

Junior Brooke Baker finished in 72nd place with a score of 240 after a final round 79, while senior Woori Shin and sophomore Kelly Fuchik each fired rounds of 78 today. Shin placed 75th overall, while Fuchik finished in 86th place.

Tulsa will be in action next at The Landfall Tradition, October 24-26, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
