Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross sophomore goalkeeper Megan Orr (Wilton, Conn.) has been named to the 2005 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-Region Second Team as announced by the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American Committee on Thursday afternoon. This is Orr's first career regional award.
Orr, who was recently named the 2005 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, was also a First Team All-Patriot League selection after a stellar sophomore campaign in net. She finished the season ranked in the Top 10 nationally with a .571 save percentage (fifth), while leading the league in saves (208) and saves per game (11.18).
A two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week selection (Apr.11, Apr. 18), Orr also finished the season ranked second in the league with an 8.69 goals against average, a category she had been ranked nationally in earlier this season. The Connecticut native fell just 10 saves shy of cracking into the PL Top 10 for saves in a single season.
The Crusaders finished the season with a 10-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in conference play, good for a second place finish. Holy Cross advanced to the Patriot League championship game for just the second time in school history, before falling to Colgate in the title game.
